KEY FINDINGS
- At enrollment, approximately 50% of Massachusetts Drug Court participants were young adults and had low academic achievement. Additionally, approximately 30% of participants were unemployed when they began Drug Court.
- Approximately 40% of Massachusetts Drug Court participants had a mental health diagnosis when they began Drug Court.
- At enrollment, heroin was indicated as the primary drug of choice for nearly 50% of Massachusetts Drug Court participants.
- Racial categories of Massachusetts Drug Court participants were: White (87%), African American (7%), or Asian (0.6%). In terms of ethnicity, 6% of Drug Court participants were Hispanic.
